The Original is a nonprofit, semiannual arts and culture publication dedicated to highlighting the talent of artists and leaders in the Pittsburgh region. It is also beautiful.

Founded at the University of Pittsburgh in 2006, The Original is managed by a collective of local volunteers who aim to bring accessible art and creative writing to the general public, while promoting unique organizations and individuals in their city.

The Original is supported in part by a Sprout Fund Seed Award and grants from the University of Pittsburgh Career Services, Office of Public Affairs, Office of Student Life, Pitt Arts, School of Arts and Sciences, School of Arts and Sciences Undergraduate Studies, Studio Arts Department, and Student Government Board.
